Here’s the deal:
Book a service dog doula session with me to shine a soft lantern light along the path ahead on your service dog journey. I’ll bring along my personal experience stories—yes, even the bad ones—to help you avoid the traps along the path and find the best places for you, specifically, to place your feet. Come with your questions or be prepared to answer mine. We’ll spend the time however you want. (Even if that means closing the Zoom and saving the remaining time for next week.)
How I Help Those Starting Their Service Dog Journey:
-
How to make the most of your budget and suggestions about how to save up and when to start the process of buying
- How to find a good trainer, and why having one is advised
- Look at your unique situation and challenges and what tasks would be the most helpful
- Be someone to rant to when you wonder if this is the right path after all
- Answer questions that came up in the book as you read
How I Help Those Who Have Their Dog and Training System:
- Be a sympathetic ear when your medical equipment is being more dog than service
- Help and advice on handling the stress and anxiety that come with raising your medical equipment
- How to handle the public
- Be someone to rant to when you wonder if this is the right path after all
What I do NOT do as a Service Dog Doula:
- Train (how to teach obedience and tasks)
- Advise on training a dog out of misbehavior
- Test dogs on things like CGCs or trick titles
- Give suggestions on breeds, temperament, or whether to go with a bred or rescue dog
- Give legal advice
- Walk you through training tools or gear
